BUTE ST REGENERATION
2000-2001

lloyd took part in the bute st regeneration programme
co-ordinated by cbat.

he was commissioned to write a short poem focussing
on the old cairo cafe and a sailor who died there.
the poem was then engraved into paving stones
which now sit where the cafe used to be.

he also produced a series of works based on quotes from
local people, which were exhibited at the cbat gallery on bute st.

butetown, or the docks, or even tiger bay, are names loaded with history.
the city of cardiff has recently decided to rename the area cardiff bay
which is as bland as you can get.
